Depending on the type of development you are undertaking, you will need to consider the City of Airdrie's permits and regulations for your property.

Land Use Bylaw (Zoning) & Map
The City of Airdrie's Land Use Bylaw regulates activity on properties in Airdrie, including lot sizes, buildings, fences, parking, landscaping, maintenance of properties, placement of signs and general appearance of the community.

Commercial & Industrial Development Permits & Process
Development Permits
A Development Permit is required when planning new commercial or industrial development, multi-family residential development, constructing a temporary structure, erecting a special function tent, submitting a plan revision, or requesting a time extension for an existing valid development permit.

Development Permit - Tenancy Permit
A Tenancy Permit is required prior to any business occupying a retail, commercial or industrial unit or bay or portion of such unit or bay, regardless of whether the building is new or existing.
Building Permits
New construction and renovations in the City of Airdrie must have the approval of the Building Inspections Department. The department is responsible for examining plans, issuing permits and performing inspections. The Department covers permits related to building, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and gas construction/renovation. Building owners and tenants will want to make themselves familiar with the types of Occupancies Allowed in Commercial Buildings.
