The City of Airdrie introduced its first Business Sastifaction Survey in February 2011. The survey collected benchmark information on a number of topics related to the economy, business operating environment, and City of Airdrie business-related services.

Overview of Results
- One-third (522) of Airdrie businesses responded to the survey
- 89% of businesses rated Airdrie as a good place to do business
- Quality of life ranked high - 92% rated Airdrie "good," "very good" or "excellent"
- Airdrie companies felt the economic downturn - 64% said it had a negative impact
- 73% of businesses currently do not have difficulty retaining or recruiting staff
- Future growth is expected
- 68% expect workload to grow/expand
- 26% expect worklaod to remain steady
- 87% plan to grow or maintain staff in next 12 months
- Impressive growth potential/plans for home-based entrepreneurs - 27% are interested in moving to a storefront

What is the 2011 City of Airdrie Business Satisfaction Survey?
The City of Airdrie Business Satisfaction Survey was conducted in February 2011. The purpose of this benchmark survey was to gain information and feedback about:
1. The current economic environment in Airdrie.
2. The current business operating environment in Airdrie.
3. City of Airdrie business-related services, policies and programs
All licensed, Airdrie-based businesses were invited to participate (one response per business). More than 500 businesses responded to the survey, making it statistically valid.
Who participated in the survey?
522 licensed Airdrie-based businesses completed the survey. Of this, 245 were commercial/industrial businesses and 277 were home-based businesses. In 98% of the cases, the survey was completed by the business owner or primary manager.
How was the survey conducted?
Banister Research & Consulting Inc. were contracted to conduct the survey. The survey included both web and telephone interviews.
Were responses confidential?
Yes. All responses were confidential. Businesses were not individually identified and results were aggregated.
Are the survey results statistically sound?
Yes. Results are accurate to ±3.5 percent at the 95% confidence level, (19 times out of 20) giving assurance the results are representative of the population group.
What are the results used for?
Survey results will be used to develop programs and services to ensure Airdrie is a place where businesses can grow and thrive.
