Airdrie is one of Canada's fastest-growing communities. In 2010, nearly 5 new residents moved here each day. Our population has doubled in the last 10 years, with the majority of residents between the ages of 25–44. The youthfulness of our population is reflected in our community spirit and progressive approach to growing and developing our community.

Airdrie is a young and dynamic community.  Our friendly neighborhoods, safe environment and caring nature have attracted many families to our growing city.

  • Median age group is 30-34 years
  • Males outnumber females in 12 out of 17 age groups
  • Females outnumber males in age groups 25-29, 30-34, 45-49, 70-74 and 75+. 
  • 95% of Airdrie's population is under 65 years old
  • 72.3% is under 45 years old
  • 37.7% is under 25 years old

Entrepreneurial Spirit

Alberta is known for its entrepreneurial spirit and Airdrie is no exception. The competitive economic environment and superb quality of life our city offers has resulted in a 5% annual increase in business licenses. Almost 2/3 of our businesses are classified as self-employed, and a further 700 residents run home-based businesses. Every new venture is supported with community services, resources and associations to help ensure your success.

Census Information

Want more stats about Airdrie? The City of Airdrie conducts a Civic Census each year. Every five years, the City completes a full census which includes expanded information about education, employment, etc. The last full census was conducted in 2008. View Census Results.
