Become a Snow Angel TODAY!

When the snow starts to fall, some Airdrie residents struggle to keep their sidewalks clear and avoid falls. Airdrie’s older adults and individuals with limited mobility, are in need of help in the winter, keeping their sidewalks shoveled, ice-free and safe.

A Snow Angel is someone who voluntarily helps our older adults and other neighbours in need,  clear snow from their driveways and sidewalks.

The Snow Angel program is a public awareness campaign and not a snow clearing program. The City’s snow clearing bylaw requires residents to remove snow and ice from sidewalks within 48 hours after the snow stops falling.

Become a Snow Angel today. Look out for older adults and those with limited mobility in your neighbourhood and help shovel their sidewalks and driveways while you do yours.

Snow Removal Reminder To Residents

Please remember it is the responsibility of the owner or occupier of property within Airdrie to ensure all sidewalks adjacent to their property are cleared of snow and ice. (Bylaw 910, Section 401(1)) This removal must be completed within 48 hours following the last snow fall.

Please be aware snow or ice from your sidewalk or driveway cannot be deposited onto City roadways or public places. The snow should be deposited onton your property.

If you are planning on being away for a period of time, the property owner is still responsible for the snow removal on their property.

Should the owner fail to comply with snow provisions, the municipality will make arrangements to remove snow/ice at owner's expense. Subsequent offences may result in a fine levy of $150 in addition to costs for removal of snow/ice.

Please be considerate of your neighbours as walking is the only means of transportation for some people.

If you have concerns about any sidewalks which may be snow covered or icy, please contact: Airdrie Municipal Enforcement at 403-948-8892 with the addresses.
