Description:
The Municipal Police Committee:
- oversees the agreement made for policing
- represents the interests of Council to the Police Officer in charge of the unit of the police service that is providing the policing service to the municipality
Term:
Members are appointed on an annual basis by Council at the organizational meeting held in October of each year. All persons appointed to a policing committee shall take the oath as set out in Schedule 2 of the Police Act.
Meetings:
Meetings are held on a quarterly basis on the third Tuesday of the following months: January, April, September and November at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Meetings are usually 1-2 hours in length.

These include a review and discussion of the statistics for the R.C.M.P. and the increase in criminal code activity.
Issues for the Coming Year:
These include a continuing review of the statistics and issues dealing with an increasing population; criminal code activity; manpower updates and the effect on service delivery; business planning and setting goals and objectives for the next three years.
