Neighbourhood Initiative Program

Purpose, Goals and Criteria:

The City of Airdrie encourages residents to help build strong and vibrant neighbourhoods with the purpose of increasing community pride and ownership and creating neighbourhoods that are safe and caring.  The Neighbourhood Initiative Program supports these goals by providing up to $500 for Airdrie residents to collaboratively create, implement, and sustain an initiative that will positively impact the quality of life in Airdrie.

Applications for the Neighbourhood Initiative Program must support the program goals by meeting the following funding criteria:

  1. Encourage residents to take action in the following areas:
  • Promote pride and ownership
  • Build positive community relationships
  • Create educational opportunities and/or community awareness of vandalism prevention and community building
  • Be a collaborative initiative
  • Be completely implemented and sustained by the neighbourhood
  1. Define a specific geographic area and signatures from at least 20 residents that live in the direct area of the initiative.
  1. Written approval from property owners if the initiative involves use of private property.
  1. A list of  additional sponsors or donors, outlining the funding, resources, or support being provided for the initiative.
  1. Completing a funding report one month after the Neighbourhood Initiative Project is completed.

Applications are accepted up to December 1, annually.  Please allow 6-8 weeks to process applications. Send the completed application form to:
