Mail in ballots (special ballots) will be available for electors unable to vote on Election Day or at an advance vote due to a physical incapacity, absence from Airdrie or because they are a returning officer, deputy returning officer, constable, candidate, official agent or scrutineer who may be located at a voting station other than their designated voting station on Election Day.
Applications for mail in ballots must be made in writing, by telephone (403-948-8816), facsimile/telecopier (403-948-6567 Attn: Legislative Services), in person at 400 Main Street SE or by email (legislative.services@airdrie.ca) at any time between July 1, 2010, and noon on Friday, October 15, 2010.
** Please note that requests for special ballots after 12:00 noon, Friday, October 15, 2010, will not be processed. Completed special ballots must be received at City Hall, 400 Main Street SE, Airdrie, Alberta, T4B 3C3 by 4:30 p.m. on October 15, 2010.
Provision has been made for a physically incapacitated elector, who is unable to attend a regular voting station or an advance voting station, to vote at his/her place of residence. This special service will be provided during the election which is Monday, October 18, 2010, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and can be arranged by telephoning Legislative Services at 403-948-8816. The physically incapacitated elector will be required to supply the Returning Officer with the following information:
If the request is accepted, the elector will be advised of the approximate time when the Deputies will attend at the residence to take his/her vote. Alternatively, physically incapacitated electors are able to vote by mail in ballot as noted above.
