Design Standards
Q. When do I submit my application for a line assignment?
A. Line assignment applications can be submitted when affected developments have received approval from the City of Airdrie. For further information on application process contact (403) 948-8857.
Q. Whose property is a sound fence on?
A. Sound fencing is to be constructed on public property. The inside face of the fence should be on the property line. Please refer to the Sound Fencing policy.
Q. How do I get a copy of Airdrie's design standards?
A. Airdrie follows City of Calgary design standards except as outlined in The City of Airdrie General Design Standards & Construction Specifications
Q. When are inspections required for sound fencing?
A. Engineering Service requires inspection of pile holes before or during rebar placement. Further inspection is required at CCC and FAC inspection. To set up an inspection, please contact (403) 948-8800 ext 8835.
Environmental
Q. Who do I contact if dust and mud is a problem in my area?
A. If you feel dust and mud is a problem in your area, please contact Engineering Service at (403) 948-8800 ext 8835.
Q. Can I remove sediment control from Catch Basins during heavy storms?
A. Developers are required to install sediment control devices as part of their environment control plan, and as legislated by Alberta Environment. Removal of these devices will cause silt and debris to be deposited into the storm sewer system and eventually into local waterways.
Inspection Process
Q. How far in advance must I contact the City to plan a road crossing?
A. If you require crossing a road with large equipment, the City must approve the plan prior to beginning the crossing. It is recommended the City is contacted at least two weeks in advance. This allows for a site meeting and plan review. Contact (403) 948-8800 ext 8835.
Q. How do I set up a CCC/FAC inspection?
A. To set up inspections with Engineering Service, it is recommended contacting us in advance for scheduling purposes. If situations arise that require immediate attention, a member of Engineering Services will attend the site as soon as possible. To schedule a Construction Completion Certificate (CCC) or Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) inspection, contact (403) 948-8800 ext 8835.
