Environmental

The City of Airdrie monitors construction sites regularly to limit short and long term effects on our existing infrastructures as well as our local ecosystem. The City of Airdrie follows the City of Calgary Guidelines for Erosion & Sediment Control.

Erosion & Sediment Control
Developers and consultants conducting work within the City of Airdrie are required to submit erosion control plans. The plan must outline what methods and steps the developer will take to ensure deleterious material from the construction site is prevented from entering storm systems.

Mud & Dust Control
Engineering Services works closely with developers and contractors to minimize adverse effects of mud and dust.

Engineering Services monitors the following requirements during construction:

  • A water truck is required during all aspects of construction to assist with dust control
  • Developers and contractors must make every attempt to prevent mud tracking onto roadways
  • Developers must limit construction access to defined locations
  • Street cleaning is to be completed when required
