Sidewalks

The City of Airdrie has hundreds of kilometres of sidewalk, and this number is growing with every new subdivision constructed. Engineering Services reviews sidewalk plans to provide residents with a safe and economical means of transportation.

Sidewalk Maintenance
In new developments sidewalks are maintained by developers until they receive Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC). During FAC inspections, sidewalks are held to City design standards and replaced or repaired as necessary.

After FAC approval, sidewalk repair and maintenance is done during local improvements or as part of the City of Airdrie Public Works department yearly concrete replacement program.

Snow Removal
Sidewalk snow removal is the responsibility of the owner or occupant of the property. This means their property is to be cleared of snow and ice within 48 hours of the last snow fall.

Snow or ice from your sidewalk or driveway cannot be deposited onto City roadways or public places. If you have concerns about any sidewalks which may be snow covered or icy, please contact Airdrie Municipal Enforcement at (403) 948-8892.
