Q. How does the City of Airdrie select locations for traffic volume counts?
A. Locations are selected based on traffic and population growth. Engineering Services primarily monitors collector and arterial roadways, in some specific instances, residential roadways are monitored. download traffic volumes.

Q. When will a traffic signal be installed at a particular intersection?
A. To install a traffic signal, the intersection must first meet certain minimum criteria specified by the warrant procedure. If the warrant analysis determines traffic signals are required, this location is incorporated into the City's budgetary process. Although the warrant is a comprehensive analysis of the factors justifying the installation of a traffic signal, the results cannot be used arbitrarily. Overall transportation strategies must be considered and a combination of engineering judgment and common sense must be applied in the final decision.

Q. How far in advance do I need to call when hauling over dimensional loads?
A. Over Dimensional Permit forms should be faxed in 48 hours before the move. This will allow scheduling of Public Works staff and notification to Municipal Enforcement. Contact Public Works for any further information at (403) 948-8415.
