Pathway Snow Removal

  1. The first priority for snow removal is direct transportation sidewalks and pathways (i.e. schools).
  2. The second priority is clearing snow and maintaining the ice at the boarded and snow bank rinks in City Parks.
  3. Third priority is snow removal from the remainder of other asphalt pathways not already cleared.
  4. The last priority is snow removed and ice maintenance on Nose Creek pond and surrounding ponds.

Currently, the Parks Department clears snow from 25 km of concrete sidewalks and 65 km of asphalt pathway. The City’s snow removal bylaw allows a 48 hour time limit to have snow removed. The Parks Department's goal is to have snow of 1.2 cm (½ inch) accumulation or more removed within 24 hours.

If you notice a sidewalk or pathway which may have been overlooked or has drifted in after it has cleared, please call the City Parks Department at (403) 948-8400.
