Where Does Your Garbage Get Picked Up?
Please have your garbage out by 7 a.m. on your day of collection. Houses with front garages have garbage collected from the front of the house. Houses with a back lane and rear garages will eventually have collection from the back lane once it meets City of Airdrie specifications. Until then garbage will be collected from the front. If you have a back lane and are building a fence, ensure there is a gate to access the back lane to place your garbage. If you have any concerns call Waste & Recycling Services at (403) 948-0246.

Tips For Packaging

  • Airdrie is a windy city so garbage in bags help keep litter to a minimum and our streets clean.
  • Animial proof containers help keep garbage in its place.
  • Bags must be strong enough to hold their contents. Please do not place more than 20 kilograms in a garbage container or plastic garbage bag.
  • Package sharp objects in a puncture resistant, non-breakable container with a tight fitting lid before placing in a waste container or plastic garbage bag.
  • Please do not tie the lids to the garbage container. The lid can get caught in the collection equipment.
  • Store garbage away from garage downspouts. In winter, this drainage area can become icy and hazardous for collectors.

Tips For Lane/Alley Service

  • Place your garbage beside the lane so collectors have direct and safe access.
  • Do not place your garbage behind a fence or in a garage because collectors are not permitted on private property.
  • Please do not block the garbage area with cars, trucks, trailers, motor homes, etc. Contractors need unobstructed access to provide an efficient garbage collection service.

Tips For Front Street Service

  • If you have no sidewalk, place your garbage on your side of the curb.
  • If you have a sidewalk joined to the curb, place your garbage on your side of the sidewalk.
  • If you have a separate sidewalk (boulevard) place your garbage on the boulevard close to the curb.

Needles and syringes
These are hard to handle items, and they DON’T belong in residential household waste. If you have these items and need to get rid of them, contact the pharmacy where you bought them for disposal options.
