Residential Garbage Collection

Effective July 1, 2010, a new contractor, RMW Consulting Inc., will be providing residential waste collection services for the City of Airdrie. Scheduled pick-up days and pick-up procedures will not change. Please review the procedures below to ensure efficient collection of your waste.

The City of Airdrie has a two garbage unit limit.

What if I have more than two units?
Garbage tags for additional units may be purchased for $2. These additional units may then be placed out for pick up (one garbage tag per unit up to a max. of five units total per household).

 

Garbage tags can be purchased by Airdrie residents at the following locations:

  • City Hall (400 Main Street)
  • East Side Recycle Depot (15 East Lake Hill)
  • Genesis Place
  • Shoppers Drug Mart (804 Main Street)

Garbage must be out by 7 a.m. for pick-up!
Condominium complexes and apartments are not charged for residential collection, therefore, they are not eligible for door to door pick-up.

Waste Bylaw

A unit of waste is a garbage bag up to 660 mm x 914 mm (26” x 36”) or a garbage can from 70 to 100 L and shall not weigh more than 34 kilograms (75 lbs). The standard galvanized garbage can is 77 L.

Larger bags or cans are counted as two units. Oversize bags are considered one and a half units. Each household is allowed to place two units of waste at the curb for pick-up.
