Art in Motion
The Art in Motion initiative presents a creative, new look for Airdrie Transit's monthly passes. Twenty-one local artists provided artwork that will be featured on Airdrie ICE and Airdrie Local passes starting in September 2011.

Name: Koos de Jongh Type of Art: Abstract Paintings Website: www.koosdejongh.com Education: ACAD Extended Studies Artist Statement: Koos started to create his own art in 2005. He began his career working with soapstone, making sculptures. Two years later, he directed himself to canvas, using acrylics and mixed mediums to create his abstract and mostly very colourful paintings. As a rule, Koos maintains that his work must be intriguing, thus enticing the spectator to stop and have a second viewing, as they pass by the art object.

Name: Joy Ann Beckley Type of Art: Mixed Media Email: joybeckley@gmail.com Artist Statement: I fell in love with watercolours. Acrylics fascinate me! My mind jumps from one medium to the other, constantly trying to visualize the results. When I start a canvas I use many ideas from photos I have taken. I am still developing my own techniques in watercolour. In acrylics, I try every method I can. Working with mixed media will eventually help me to decide which medium to pursue.
