The City of Airdrie supplies and installs water meters for all locations and for all applications including residences, businesses and irrigation. The water meter must be paid for at the same time that the building permit is purchased. The cost of the water meter includes material and labour costs as well as ten cubic metres of water to allow for flushing and testing the plumbing lines and fixtures.
If you have a concern with your water meter readings, the City of Airdrie will remove and replace the existing water meter. Once the meter is removed, it will be tested for accuracy. If the meter is still within 2 per cent of actual readings, the cost of the testing will be added to the utility bill. If the meter accuracy level is not within acceptable limits, the cost of the testing will be borne by the City of Airdrie.
