City launches the Building Belonging Microgrant initiative

June 19, 2025 – For immediate release

Airdrie, AB – The City of Airdrie is excited to announce the launch of the Building Belonging Microgrant initiative – a pilot microgrant for individuals and community organizations who live or serve the Airdrie community to bring their innovative ideas to life.

The Building Belonging Microgrant aims to support projects that bring people together and help everyone feel welcome and included in Airdrie. This initiative will seek to fund projects that foster an inclusive and vibrant community, reduce barriers to community participation and support awareness, dialogue, and action on Truth and Reconciliation, anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and allyship by creating spaces for learning and conversation.

“The Building Belonging Microgrant initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate diversity and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all,” says Mayor Peter Brown. “I encourage everyone to bring their innovative ideas forward and help us build a stronger, more connected Airdrie. Let's work together to make our city a place where everyone feels they belong."

Applications are now open and will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year until Nov.15, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated. All initiatives must be completed by Dec. 31, 2025, and a final report must be submitted within 60 days of completion.

Interested applicants are invited to fill out the online application form available at www.airdrie.ca/buildbelong.
