Eco Art Award - you choose the winner!

September 13, 2013 / For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie is proud to host the inaugural Eco Art Award, sponsored by Fortis and with support from Creative Airdrie. In this unique award, the winner is determined solely on public votes.

“Three artists have each created artwork from recyclables and now the public has an opportunity to vote for the winner,” says Kathleen Muretti, Manager, Waste and Recycling Services.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Environmental Education Centre, located at the Eastside Recycle Depot, before September 30 to vote for their favorite piece.

“The Eco Art Award is a unique way to showcase both the creativity of local artists and bring attention to waste and recycling in Airdrie,” adds Muretti.

In August, ten artists submitted a proposal for their art piece. Three proposals were chosen and the artists have created their works. Voting will take place in the Environmental Education Centre, located at the Eastside Recycle Depot (21 East Lake Hill) during regular depot hours:
Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday: 9am-5pm
Wednesday-Friday: 9am-8pm.

An award presentation announcing the winner will be held in October in Council Chambers.
