Airdrie, Alberta – Airdrie’s small business environment will be celebrated through events, workshops and awards during Small Business Week, October 21 - 26.
“We have a fantastic business environment in Airdrie and we want to celebrate that,” says Kent Rupert, Airdrie Economic Development Team Leader. “We know 89% of businesses say Airdrie is a good place to do business – that’s something to be proud of.”
Airdrie is home to just over 1,800 licensed Airdrie-based businesses. Of that, 99 per cent have fewer than 100 employees (consistent with the Canadian percentage). A further 86 per cent of Airdrie businesses have less than 10 employees. More than 58 per cent of local businesses operate from home – 24 per cent of those businesses are interested in one day moving to a storefront location.
“Small Business Week is a great time to provide businesses with opportunities to learn and network,” explains Rupert. “We’re bringing in dynamic speakers on topics such as productivity and social media to give businesses resources to constantly improve their performance. And, for those businesses that have questions, we’re bringing back our Ask an Airdrie Expert program to connect them with local professionals.”
