AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – Airdrie Transit is launching a new route to serve CrossIron Mills shoppers and staff, effective November 9, 2013.
“Our current transit users have been asking us for this service for a long time,” commented Chris MacIsaac, Airdrie Transit Coordinator. “We listened to the community to build a new service to meet their need for more regional transit services and added a new partnership with CrossIron Mills in doing so.”
The new route, Route 4, will operate on weekends and statutory holidays only on an eight month trial. It will operate hourly beginning with a 7:30 a.m. departure from Airdrie on Saturdays and a 9:00 a.m. departure from Airdrie on Sundays and statutory holidays.
Route 4 will originate at the Calgary Co-op on Sierra Springs Blvd and head directly to Entrance 2 at CrossIron Mills (northwest facing Tommy Hilfiger entrance). It will return to Airdrie via Veterans Boulevard before continuing down Main Street, 1st Avenue, 8th Street and Yankee Valley Boulevard.
“The City of Airdrie has always been an important part of the CrossIron Mills community and the new transit service will be of great value to the thousands of Airdrie residents that work and shop at the centre. This partnership is a great first step and we look forward to growing the service in the future,” said James Moller, General Manager, CrossIron Mills.
The new routing will take effect on Saturday, November 9, 2013. The addition will not impact the existing schedules or routing.
