AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Sunday, November 10 at 03:52 hours the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a possible structure fire located at the Highway Tap House #216 Edmonton Trail NE.
On arrival, smoke was showing from the roof area and throughout the interior of the large commercial building. Once fire crews gained entry into the restaurant, they were able to determine where the fire was located and it was quickly extinguished. Firefighters then ventilated the area and opened portions of the ceiling and walls to check for any possible fire extension. Crews remained on scene for approximately three hours.
Due to extreme heat and smoke conditions, there was significant damage to the interior and contents of the structure. Damage estimates and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau and Airdrie RCMP.
There were no injuries to report. A total of five pieces of apparatus and 14 firefighters were on scene.
