March 5 residential fire - AFD response details
March 6, 2014 / For Immediate Release
AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – At 20:12 hours (8:12 p.m.) the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a fire in a residential home located at #353 Spring Haven Court SE, Airdrie, Alberta.
On arrival crews found that both occupants, home at the time of the blaze, had safely made their way to the street and were then evaluated by Alberta Health Services (AHS) paramedics on scene.
Smoke was showing from the entire home through the eaves of the roof when firefighters made entry. They quickly made their through the residence in a primary search where they discovered a working fire and thick, dense smoke conditions.
The fire was quickly extinguished but smoldering continued throughout the attic space which made overhaul a difficult task. The home was then ventilated to remove residual smoke and gases. In order to determine if the fire had spread into other areas of the room and attic space, firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to assist with overall operations.
The cause and damage estimates remain under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Twelve firefighters with four pieces of apparatus and one AHS ambulance attended the incident.
There were no injuries to report.
