More to Doggie Doo Day in 2014
April 30, 2014 / For Immediate Release
AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The fourth annual Doggie Doo Day, being held May 10 at the Big Springs and Kings Heights off leash areas, will for the first time, bring together dog owners and local dog-related businesses as well as the usual spring clean-up of the off leash area.
“Doggie Doo Day is a chance for residents, parks staff and Council members to show pride in our local off leash areas and bring awareness to the need to clean up after your pet,” says Kevin Brinson, Team Leader, Parks Operations.
This year, Doggie Doo Day will also feature local dog related business, including Love Your Pet, Four on the Floor and Airdrie Dog and Pony. Representatives from these businesses will be on hand to answer questions about grooming, training, day care, nutrition, dog walking and much more.
“Inviting local businesses to take part in Doggie Doo Day adds value for dog owners and brings the whole dog community together for a great event,” says Brinson.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. until noon. After refreshments and a chat with local dog businesses, residents are asked to show their pride in our off leash areas by helping give them a spring cleaning.
“It is also a great opportunity for dog owners to talk to City staff about our off leash areas to have any questions answered and provide feedback to us,” added Brinson.
Temporary parking for the Big Springs off leash area will be located in the R. J. Hawkey school parking lot for this event only.
A rain-out date is scheduled for May 17 should the weather on May 10 force the event to be postponed.
Media are invited to attend at either location for photo opportunities.
