Genesis Place to implement new aquatics regulations
June 16, 2014 / For Immediate Release
AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – Effective July 1, 2014 Genesis Place is raising the minimum age for unaccompanied minors in the aquatics area from seven to eight years of age, and implementing a supervisory ratio for adults taking multiple children to the pool.
Children under the age of eight must now be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 14 or older who is in the water. A ratio guideline is also being specified so that one parent or guardian can only be responsible for up to four children under the age of eight.
“We looked at entrance limits and supervisory ratios throughout Canada and Alberta when making our recommendation to Council in February,” says Greg Lockert, Genesis Place Manager. “The continued safety of our patrons is our first priority, and we feel the new regulations better position us to deliver on our commitment to safety in our aquatics area.”
