Aggressive Dog Incident

October 16, 2014 / For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, AB – At approximately 11:45 a.m. on October 16, an incident between two dogs occurred in the area of Stonegate resulting in fatal injuries to one dog.

“These incidents are unfortunate and upsetting for all involved,” says Lynn Mackenzie, Team Leader, Municipal Enforcement. “While they are few in nature, Municipal Enforcement takes these types of incidents very seriously,” says Mackenzie.

Both animals were unleashed in an on-leash area. The aggressive dog involved has been taken into the custody of Municipal Enforcement and will be quarantined for up to 10 days while Municipal Enforcement investigates and determines the next steps in the resolution of this incident.

Municipal Enforcement is bringing forward amendments to the current Dog Control bylaw that specifically addresses aggressive dogs in Airdrie.

“We encourage all dog owners to be responsible and ensure your dog is under control at all times,” says Mackenzie.
