October 12, 2015 Structure Fire - AFD Response Details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Monday, October 12, 2015 at 3:28 a.m., the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a possible structure fire located at #2400 Ravenswood View SE.
On arrival, first in fire crews found heavy fire and smoke showing from the middle unit of a two story multi-unit townhouse complex currently under construction and unoccupied.
Due to the size and severity of the fire a second alarm was raised requesting the attendance of additional apparatus and manpower to the scene.
Once a sustained water supply was established, firefighters launched a defensive fire attack on the blaze with large and multiple master water streams. Crews entered into adjacent units on both sides of the fire to determine if the any extension had occurred.
Firefighters would remain on scene until the early hours of the morning ensuring that fire had been completely extinguished.
There were no injuries to report.
The cause of the fire and damage estimates remain under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Five pieces of apparatus and twelve firefighters were on scene.
