City takes over operation of the Town and Country Centre
December 22, 2015/ For Immediate Release
AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – At the December 21, 2015 Council meeting, the City of Airdrie will assume the operational responsibilities for the Town and Country Centre.
In early 2015, the Airdrie Columbus Society gave the City of Airdrie notice of their intention to not renew their lease agreement with the City, effective December 31, 2015. The City undertook a Request for Proposal process to seek a new operating partner for the facility, but was not successful in this process.
Subsequently, the City of Airdrie will formally take over the operations of the hall effective January 4, 2016. City staff are working with the Airdrie Columbus Society to review the 2016 booking commitments to ensure that this transition is a seamless as possible.
“The Airdrie Columbus Society has been the organization responsible for the management and operations of the Community Halls at Town and Country Centre for more than 20 years,” says Mayor Peter Brown. “They’ve donated tens of thousands of dollars to the community, and on behalf of City staff and Council, I’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the Columbus Society staff and volunteers who ensured the facility was well maintained and accessible for the entire community.”
