Friday, May 20, 2016 – Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Friday, May 20 at 12:48 p.m. the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision located on Main Street south of Yankee valley Boulevard.
On arrival crews determined that a vehicle was turning north from an uncontrolled intersection when it collided with a second vehicle travelling southbound. The result was a serious T-bone collision with a total of three victims.
The immediate roadway was closed to traffic in order to provide a safe working area for first responders.
The incident did not require extrication and assessment and care of all patients was quickly transferred to AHS paramedics on scene with two patients eventually being transported to hospital.
Firefighter provided traffic control and managed cleanup of fluids caused by the incident.
RCMP investigated the collision.
Two pieces of apparatus and six firefighters were on scene.
The public is reminded to be safe while on roadways during this May long weekend.
