August 23 2016 Vehicle Fire AFD Response Details

August 24, 2016/ For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 2:40 PM the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle fire located on Bay Springs Way SW.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a mid-size commercial van fully involved, with flames and smoke showing from the rear doors and windows.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring it under control. Crews removed much of the interior contents of the van to ensure that the blaze was completely extinguished.

As a precaution, absorbent pads were placed around adjacent storm sewers drains to manage the possibility of contaminants entering waterways.

The immediate roadway was closed to traffic in order to provide a safe working area for first responders.

Four pieces of apparatus and nine firefighters were on scene.

There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire and final damage estimates remain under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
