October 11 Structure Fire
October 12, 2017/ For Immediate Release
ALBERTA – On Wednesday, October 11 at 6:03 a.m. the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire located in the 200 block of Flett Drive N.E.
When fire crews arrived they found a two story residential home fully involved in flames.
Due to existing dangerous and unpredictable conditions firefighters launched an exterior, defensive fire attack to prevent the blaze from extending to adjacent structures.
Eight residents from three nearby homes were temporarily evacuated while fire operations were ongoing.
The fire completely destroyed one home and significantly damaged a second.
Firefighters rescued a cat from the fire scene which was returned to its family.
The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) remains on scene conducting their investigation to determine probable cause and preliminary damage estimates.
Two firefighters experienced minor injuries while battling the blaze.
Five pieces of apparatus and thirteen firefighters were on scene.
