2017 Election Night information

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Monday, October 16, 2017, City of Airdrie residents will go to the voting stations along with all other Albertans to elect their Municipal government. The City of Airdrie will provide Election results as they come in from the three voting stations after 8 p.m. that evening. The results are unofficial until noon on Friday, October 20, 2017.

Timeframe for results (all are approximate)

  • 8:15 p.m. Results from Advance and Institutional voting posted on airdrie.ca and social media
  • 8:30 to 9 p.m. Results from each of three voting stations on airdrie.ca and social media
  • 9:15 p.m. Results from all voting stations in a final news release on airdrie.ca and social media

Results viewing - City Hall Council Chambers – 400 Main ST

Council Chambers will open at 7:45 p.m. for candidates, residents and members of the media who wish to gather and watch the results posted on the big screen. The feed will be from airdrie.ca so the results will be available at the exact same time as on the website and social media.

Interesting facts

  • Airdrie has approximately 45,000 eligible voters
  • 782 voted in the two 2017 Advance Votes
  • This is a 457% increase over 2013 (177 voted but there was no Mayoral race)
  • This is a 261% increase over 2010 (299 voted)
  • On Election Day most people vote between 4 and 8 p.m. so we encourage residents to avoid the lineups and vote early in the day.
