AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Tuesday, October 17 at 12:21 p.m., the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a grass fire near the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks adjacent to the neighbourhood of Ridgegate.

The fire was extinguished quickly to prevent spread to nearby homes. Crews remained on scene to soak the area down as dry, windy conditions provided a potential for flare ups.

There were no injuries to report.

Four pieces of apparatus and 12 firefighters were on scene.

Wind, together with very little precipitation, are causing are very dry conditions. Please take extra precautions with smoking materials and backyard fire pits.
