Nominate a 2018 Elite Athlete today

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie is looking for nominations for the 2018 Airdrie Elite Athlete Awards program. The program recognizes the exceptional contributions in sport as well as significant community involvement of individuals and/or teams that have considerable ties to Airdrie.
“Airdrie’s Elite Athletes are people who lead the way in athletic excellence and make a significant effort in giving back to their community,” says Kim Harris, Community Developer. “The City is home to many exceptional athletes and, each year, we encourage people to come forward and nominate those people or teams who have achieved tremendous accomplishments that deserve public recognition.”
Residents can nominate an Elite Athlete by filling out an online application form.
Nomination criteria includes:
- Nominee has been a resident of Airdrie (as defined by the school attendance boundaries) for a minimum of three years and has made significant community contributions
- Nominee has obtained an exceptional level of athletic achievement at a sanctioned national or international competition, or set national or international records, or achieved national or international titles while competing
- Team nominations require a minimum of 50 per cent of its members to be compiled of Airdrie residents
Nomination deadline is Jan. 15, 2018. Winners will be announced in the spring of 2018. Elite Athletes are publicly recognized at a special ceremony in addition to having their name and photo proudly displayed at Genesis Place.
