Vehicle Collides into Building/AFD Response Details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Thursday, December 7 at 10:40 a.m. the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle collision at the front entrance of the ATB Financial building located at #2800 Main Street S.
When fire crews arrived, they determined that a small car had jumped the curb and sidewalk before colliding into the front window of the bank. Due to the potential safety hazard of glass and debris, the area was immediately cordoned off. EMS assessed and treated the occupant of the vehicle. Building utilities were assessed and found undamaged.
A Fire Prevention Investigator and City of Airdrie Building Inspector attended the incident to determine if the structure had been compromised. Upon completion of a thorough inspection the damage was deemed to be superficial and posed no threat of collapse.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the RCMP.
Three pieces fire apparatus and eight firefighters responded to the scene.
