Cause determined in Tanner Drive fire
April 6, 2018/ For Immediate Release
Airdrie, AB – The Airdrie Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Investigator has determined the probable cause of yesterday’s Tanner Drive fire to be improper disposal of smoking materials.
The investigation into the structure fire which occurred on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in the 200 Block of Tanner Drive SE has now been concluded.
Preliminary damage is estimated to be $70,000.00.
There were no injuries to report.
Public safety reminder
The Airdrie Fire Department reminds the public that smoking materials should be doused in water or sand prior to disposal. Ashtrays should be deep, non-combustible and kept away from items that could catch fire. Smoking materials should never be thrown from windows of automobiles.
