Tiana Schroeder named Airdrie Fire Department’s Junior Fire Chief

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – Tiana Schroeder, a grade four student at A.E. Bowers Elementary School, has been named Airdrie Fire Department’s (AFD) Junior Fire Chief for 2018. She submitted a thorough and comprehensive essay regarding fire safety best practices.

Jr. Fire Chief Schroeder will ride in a fire truck to Fire Headquarters at Chinook Winds Fire Station for lunch with her family and will be available for photo opportunities with the fire crews and Chiefs beginning at noon today.

The annual contest is part of AFD’s Fire Prevention Week activities. Grade four students were invited to submit a 50-word essay on the topic How can I keep my family fire safe.

Teachers selected the winning essay from their class and submitted it to AFD to review the finalists and select a winner.
