October 16 Waste Water Overflow - AFD response details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – At 7 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 16, the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) responded to the report of a wastewater overflow located at 106 Sierra Springs Dr. SE.

On arrival, crews found what appeared to be wastewater in the parking lot. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the wastewater was not being contained by the sanitary system.

With assistance from City of Airdrie Water Services the extent of the overflow was determined. The surrounding area was closed to the public to allow the Rapid Response HazMat team to facilitate cleanup while AFD provided a water supply to flush the area systems.

Fourteen (14) firefighters with five (5) pieces of apparatus, City Water Services and Rapid Response HazMat team attended the incident.

No waste water reached Nose Creek. There were no injuries to report.
