Structure fire with injuries/ AFD response details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Friday, January 25 at 3:15 p.m., the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of alarm bells ringing in a commercial building located on Kingsview Boulevard SE.

On arrival fire crews were met by two workers with burn injuries to their upper extremities. Before being transported to hospital, both men were initially assessed and treated by firefighters and AHS paramedics on scene.

The fire occurred in the end bay of a multi-bay industrial/ commercial building. The fire was quickly extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system prior to the arrival of the fire department.

Fire crews checked all adjacent businesses for fire extension and possible smoke damage.

The Fire Prevention Bureau and RCMP will remain on scene assisting Occupational Health and Safety with their investigation.

Four pieces of fire apparatus and twelve firefighters were on scene.
