Airdrie Economic Development recognized with Award of Excellence
AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie was honoured during an Economic Developers Alberta awards ceremony held in Banff last Thursday.
The City’s Economic Development department received an Award of Excellence in the Community Economic Development category for the creation of Airdrie’s Economic Strategy.
Launched during National Small Business Week last October, the 10-year Economic Strategy is the culmination of two years of extensive engagement and consultation with businesses and residents who know Airdrie best.
“The strategy, which was a truly collaborative effort, is designed to cultivate a sustainable economic future by embracing what we heard makes Airdrie great, while building on the potential we have to create a better future,” says Project Manager and Economic Development Officer, Sara Chamberlain.
“We are very proud to be recognized for the work we’re doing to improve our community.”
The strategy defines three key objectives to build on Airdrie’s strengths, address the city’s challenges and seize opportunities. They are: The Place to Be, Right for Business and A Connected Community.
