House fire on Summerfield Close

November 8, 2019/ For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Friday, November 8, at 1:07p.m. the Airdrie Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Summerfield Close SW.

On arrival, crews determined that a fire had started on the exterior of the two story split- level home which then breached the soffits of the structure and entered into the interior attic space.

The lone male occupant home at the time of the incident had evacuated safely to the street prior to the arrival of the fire department.

Firefighters entered the interior of the home and removed a portion of the kitchen ceiling to attack and extinguish the blaze which was burning in the attic.

Smoke was ventilated and a thermal imaging camera (TIC) was used to ensure the fire had not extended further.

The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) remains on scene conducting their investigation to determine probable cause and preliminary damage estimates.

There were no injuries to report.

Four pieces of fire apparatus and 12 firefighters were on scene.
