Residents are now able to apply for Diaper/Medical Exemptions:
You may find that extra tags are not needed as the maximum allowable bag size for the one bag limit is 90cm (30") x 127cm (50"). See the picture below for a size comparison.
These bags are almost 3-4 times the size of your average kitchen bag and are available at most local retailers. You can also put as many smaller sized bags within that one bag as you like. However if you are unable to meet the one bag limit please see the information below to apply for an exemption.
Apply online by completing the forms below. Once your application has been submitted, an email will be generated to our Waste and Recycling team so that your information can be entered into the system. When the tags are ready we will call you to come in and pick them up from the Recycle Depot, during regular depot hours.
Print out the PDF form (links below) and visit us at the Eastside Recycle Depot at 21 East Lake Hill NE during normal depot hours to drop-it off and receive your excess tags or fill out the application form at the Depot and collect your tags.
Who can apply?
On March 20, 2017 City Council approved care and compassion provisions that include:
Residents who apply for the diaper exemption will receive excess waste tags for one extra garbage bag each week for six months. The household must have two or more children under the age of four and this exemption must be re-applied for every six months.
Residents who apply for the medical exemption will receive excess waste tags for one extra garbage bag each week for six months. This exemption must be re-applied for every six months.
