12 Thousand Acres Plan

In 2012, the City of Airdrie annexed approximately 12,640 acres of land from Rocky View County to provide a 50-year land supply for future growth. The 12 Thousand Acres Plan is a growth management and development sequencing plan intended to guide Council’s decision-making on future development within the annexation lands.

The 12 Thousand Acres Plan outlines future Community Area Structure Plan (CASP) boundaries; outlines the sequencing for when new development areas can come online; provides general direction on land uses for the annexed area, and; provides guidelines on how interim land uses and requests for rezoning, subdivision, and development will be managed before new CASPs are established.

The Plan was adopted by Airdrie City Council on June 18, 2018.
