Airdrie Transit is working on keeping our customers safely moving as the economy in Alberta restarts. Over the coming weeks, we are excited to welcome you back on your trips to work, school, and other activities. We have implemented new and enhanced measures to improve the safety on our vehicles and to meet your public transit needs.

TRANSIT SAFETY MEASURES

Airdrie Transit is encouraging customers to consider the following:

• If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and avoid public activities.
• Please try to leave space between yourself and other customers.
• If you sneeze or cough, please cover your mouth using your arm.
• Wash your hands frequently; including any opportunities before you board any city bus.
• Please avoid any direct close interactions with others, including bus drivers. Bus drivers will not be handling any tickets directly.

 

Masks

The use of non-medical masks or face coverings are strongly recommended to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Airdrie Transit encourages our customers to wear non-medical masks when physical distancing may not be possible. Complimentary disposable masks are available to all Airdrie Transit users.

Cleaning

We're working hard to thoroughly clean all of our vehicles, to ensure we are providing safe transportation for our customers. We have enhanced cleaning and sanitization on all buses which includes frequent wiping of high touch points such as seats, stanchions and doors.

Operator Barriers

The wellbeing of our operators and customers is a priority for us. We are following the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer of Health by installing bus operator protection barriers on all buses to support physical distancing.

 

SERVICE UPDATES

LOCAL SERVICE

Airdrie Transit is excited to announce the increase of Local Service starting September 1, 2020. Routes 1 & 3 will be providing local service every 30 minutes Monday through Friday, and every 60 minutes on Saturdays! 

Routes 1 & 3 will continue to operate every 60 minutes, 6 days a week until August 31, 2020.

Please note, the Local Dial-A-Bus service will continue to operate at a reduced capacity for the month of August 2020. This service can be booked by calling 403.948.8875, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The last day of service for Dial-A-Bus will be August 31, 2020.

 

INTERCITY EXPRESS SERVICE

Starting July 6, 2020, Airdrie Transit will be providing service to Downtown Calgary on Routes 901 and 902. Services will include a total of 3 trips in the morning and 3 trips in the afternoon.

The 900 service to CrossIron Mills mall will also be increasing to every 60 minutes as well as longer hours.

FARE UPDATES

As the province and our community move towards re-opening amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Airdrie Transit will resume collecting fares effective July 1, 2020.
