Disc golf

On July 5, City Council made a unanimous decision to support the Airdrie Disc Golf Association (ADGA) in setting up nine temporary disc golf holes in Fletcher Park.

Disc golf usually has baskets that players throw the discs into to complete a hole. The course at Fletcher Park will use tone poles (hole is complete when disc makes contact with target area of tone pole) for now while ADGA seeks funding to purchase and install proper baskets.

Disc golf rules and terms

  • Play the course from beginning to end in the fewest throws.
  • Don’t throw until other players or park users are out of range.

Tee throws

  • Each hole begins with a tee throw from within the designated area.

Throwing order

  • The player with the least amount of strokes on the previous hole is the first to tee off on the next hole
  • After teeing off, the player whose disc is furthest from the hole throws first.

Lie

  • The spot where the disc lands.

Fairway throw

  • Fairway throws must be made from the lie position. A run-up and follow-through is permitted.

Putt

  • A player can’t step past the lie within 10 steps of the hole.

Completion of the hole

  • The hole is completed when the disc has hit the stick or at holes where a basket is present, the disc should be inside, supported by the chains.
