Airdrie Festival of Lights

They are back for their 25th year, award-winning Airdrie Festival of Lights

Go With the Glow

Located in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park, the Airdrie Festival of Lights is a beautiful, outdoor walk-through lights experience, with about a million dollars worth of displays and other special features. You'll enjoy miniature trains ($2/ride) which carry the whole family around preset paths, as well as open bonfires where you can savour that cup of hot chocolate or apple cider ($2/cup).

Before you leave, be sure to stop into Santa's Gift Shop, located right beside the large Poinsettia Arch. Here you'll find high quality and whimsical gifts for yourself, your family, and your friends.

Your littles are covered with their unique Kids' Only Shopping experience, also located within Santa's Gift Shop. No adults allowed! Elves will help your little ones in a unique shopping section that is full of locally sourced handmade, home-based gifts. All items in this section are $10 and under keeping it affordable for your kid's budgets. And it's zero profit to AFOLS, because what they paid is what the kids pay!

Make the Airdrie Festival of Lights part of your annual Family Holiday Tradition!

Mini-Train Rides

All Aboard! The Airdrie Festival of Lights offers three miniature riding trains and two separate paths to enjoy the lights from a different viewpoint. Suitable for all ages, including the young and young at heart, and even your furry-legged friends too! Tickets must be purchased in advance at the festival's Train Station.

Winter Your Way - Outdoor Adventure

Gear up and head out this winter on a winterland adventure.

Disc' the Season

Try something new this winter with family disc golf. Located at Fletcher Regional Park, located off of First Avenue. You can park at the north side, off 6 Ave. NW or on the south, off 1 Ave.

Laces up, helmets on and find your ice. Airdrie is full of ODR's otherwise known as Outdoor Rinks available for public use. From snowbank rinks for the tots, or boarded rinks for the hockey enthusiasts, there are plenty of safe outdoor skating options. Check out our Outdoor Rink Map to see what's closest to you.

'Mallow Roast

The City has three bookable fire pits available to the community, thanks to the contributions from local scout groups, businesses and the City of Airdrie. Bowen Park, which is located in the community of Reunion (Reunion GW & Reunion Blvd), offers small open grate barbecues (picnic style) for use without a formal booking through the Parks department. Load up on the marshmallows and settle in for a good ol' fashion roast.

Cultural Sightings

Airdrie is proud to have recently erected a Dr. Jose Rizal bust at Nose Creek Regional Park. Alongside the bust is our six handcrafted totem poles from Gatchewon City, and the Canada 150 Legacy Art Project. Enhance the experience with a treat from Bubble Tea Brewers

Tobogganing

Enjoy a safe winter on one of Airdrie's three toboggan hills located in Chinook Winds Regional Park, Coopers Crossing at Coopers Cr. & Coopers Dr., as well as Osborne Park at Osborne Park SW and Windsong Drive SW/Windsong Blvd SW.

Nature Trails

Strap on the snowshoes or just really really warm boots and enjoy the serenity of a nice long walk on a brisk winter's day. Visit all four of Airdrie's Regional Parks for a chance to see explore the city one step at a time. Don't forget to layer up!

Fat Biking

Take on a new view of the city, on a winterized fat bike. Airdrie is now part of “The Great Trail” (Trans Canada Trail), created by Trans Canada Trail and partners in 1992. The trail is now 24,000 kilometres of multi-use recreational trail and is the world’s longest recreational trail. When completed, the trail will stretch from the Atlantic to the Pacific and to the Arctic Oceans, linking over 1,000 communities and 34 million Canadians. Millions of Canadians and international visitors are now using the Trail. Airdrie's part of the trail connects to Irricana’s road network and Rocky View County’s proposed route.
