Municipal Planning Commission

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) make recommendations to Council on land use and planning items such as amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and Master Site Plan applications and makes decisions on applications referred to it by the Development Officer or Council.

The MPC mandated are viewed through the Subdivision and Development Authority Bylaw B-34/2004 (Consolidated December 30, 2022).

Municipal Planning Commission meetings

MPC meetings are held in Council Chambers located at 400 Main Street on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings are live streamed and both in person and online are open to the public.

MPC members

Municipal Planning Commission positions are appointed by Council for up to a 12-month term. Terms run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 each year. Five members must be in attendance to meet quorum and positions include:

  • Seven citizen members
  • Two elected official positions for Chair and Vice-Chair

How to join the Municipal Planning Commission

MPC members must be current residents of the City of Airdrie and must be 18 years of age or older.
