AIRDRIE, AB – The City of Airdrie welcomes local visual artists and those with strong ties to the community to submit for Inspire’s inaugural art exhibition – ‘A Breath Beyond’. The exhibition, which will run from Sept. 15 until Jan. 15, 2026, will showcase the talent and creativity of Airdrie’s artists in the embodiment of the word ‘Inspire’, where the word means to excite, encourage or breathe life into.
“The opportunity is open to visual artists of all disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, digital art and mix media’, says Michael McAllister, Public Art Specialist. “Airdrie has so many incredibly talented artists and we’re looking forward to celebrating their work with the community at Inspire.
Artists are encouraged to submit work that relates to the prompt: ‘Much like the act of taking breath, art has the power to ground us, to invigorate and to expand our horizons and future-thinking’. Submissions are required by May 24, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
A guest curator, in collaboration with the Community Art Selection Committee, will review submissions and select artworks. Selected artists will be compensated for exhibition of their work. Full submission requirements and instructions can be viewed at airdrie.ca/exhibit.
