The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) is provincial legislation put in place to ensure access is available to records and personal information and to control how information is collected, used and disclosed.
The personal information on this form is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, RSA 2000, c F-25, and is used solely to verify census information.
Questions about collection of this personal information can be directed to the City’s FOIP Coordinator at 400 Main Street SE, Airdrie, Alberta, T4B 3C3, or by phone at (403) 948-8816.
Information provided in the municipal census is used for statistical purposes only and is not released in a format that can be connected to an individual, household or municipal address.
If you wish to make a request for information under the FOIP Act, complete the FOIP form. You can generally expect a response within 30 business days. You may need to bring in photo identification when picking up your information.
While there is no charge to obtain your own personal information, there may be charges for photocopying ($0.25/page). If you are making a request for general information, there is an initial charge of $25 and a charge of $27/hour for locating, retrieving, preparing and handling the record for disclosure.
If you are not sure if your request falls under FOIP, please contact Legislative Services at extension 8816 or at Legislative.Services@airdrie.ca.
We encourage you to contact Legislative Services first, before sending in your FOIP Form. We may be able to assist you by either:
a) letting you know if the information you want is public information and can be accessed by you without a request; or
b) helping you to clarify your request before you file it, which may reduce the costs of your request and/or the time to process it.
FOIP legislation states that a public body must publish a directory listing the personal information banks.
