2023-2024 Cabaret Series

New this year - Bert Church LIVE Theatre presents an intimate series of seasonal performances in its 2023-24 Cabaret Series. With four performances between August 2023 and April 2024, audiences can expect a uniquely regional and local experience. 

Set amidst the backdrop of Bert Church LIVE Theatre's stunning lobby performance area; audience members will experience an up close, casual and intimate performance with multi-level seating and tables for beverages and mingling.

This isn't your boring old run-of-the-mill magic show. None of your weird uncle’s card tricks. No rabbits in hats. Just pure amazement. Mentalist and Magician Jeff Newman will melt your brain, blow your mind, and even drop your jaw with magic and mind-reading you have never seen before. He may even turn you from a skeptic into a believer. Think you know magic? Think again.

Jeff Newman was born and raised in a small community in Alberta, Canada.  In 2014, Newman made his Fringe Festival debut with his hit show Mind Games: Brain-Bending Magic at the 33rd annual Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. Since then, Jeff has toured his critically-acclaimed shows around the world.

Brandon Lorenzo is a homegrown country artist with a modern twist.He draws musical inspiration from the greats of the 90's and loves playing upbeat country songs that get audiences dancing. 

Born in Alberta, music found Lorenzo at an early age, singing in church and the Calgary Boys Choir. Lorenzo was honoured with the titles of Male Vocalist of the year and Male Entertainer of the year at the North American Country Music Awards International (NACMAI) in Nashville in 2023. Additionally, he has received nominations for two categories at the upcoming Jose Awards in Nashville in October. Brandon is an Eight time Country Music Alberta Nominee, 2020 Global Country Canada Winner and the 2020 YYC People’s Choice Award Winner.

Ellen's voice is soft, sweet, confident and assured. She combines her deep love of jazz with influences of the great singer-songwriters of our time. Audiences will be treated to undertones of jazz, soul, folk, pop and indie music - all in this one incredible performer. 

Ellen signed a record deal with Toronto-based label Alma Records, and her new album “Come Fall” came out on Universal Music in Canada on March 2nd, 2018, debuting at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart. She also just recently completed a 16 show Canadian tour, a jazz festival tour, and a tour of Japan with a feature performance at the 2018 Tokyo Jazz Festival.
