Eligible upgrades and energy savings

The Clean Energy Improvement Program is a new way to finance energy efficiency upgrades and renewable energy upgrades. The project financing is attached to your regular property tax bill so repayments are made through your municipal property taxes.

The many benefits to this approach include:

• Access to competitive interest rates
• Long repayment terms
• Balance repayment at any time, without penalty
• Loan is attached to the property, not your mortgage (if you sell your property, the new owner assumes the remaining balance)

Upgrades that could be covered depending on your application submission and approval could include:

• Renewable energy, solar PV & thermal
  Produce your own energy with a solar PV system, store it with battery energy storage and heat your water – all with the power of the sun.
• Attic insulation
  Heat rises, which means keeping a tight lid on your house can transform your utility bill. Attic insulation can cut 10-50% off your utility bill.
• Heat pump
  Replacements for furnaces, AC units, and heat pumps use electricity to heat and cool year-round.
• Doors, windows & insulation
  Feeling drafty? Upgrading your attic and wall insulation, windows and air sealing will help.
• Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning
  Warm in the winter, cool in the summer. The right upgrades can help your home be more comfortable and save you energy. 
• Water heating
  Heat up your water, not your energy bills. Upgrade your water heater and add a drain water heat recovery system.
• Lighting
  Decrease your home’s energy usage by upgrading your lighting fixtures. Choose from a wide range of energy-efficient options.
• Custom upgrades
  Clean energy upgrades with custom specifications may be eligible for financing.
